cube steak

ok, so we bought a 1/4 of a cow in late summer and i am now trying to figure out what to do with the "cube steak" part of the cow. who knows what to do with cube steak because what we ate tonight was as tough as my tennis shoe.

You are too funny! Check out cooking.com, they have tons of recipes for cube steak. I have never prepared cube steak, but remember my mom making it and cooking it for a long time at a low temp.

Good luck and I am sure you will come up with something that tastes better than your tennis shoe!

my mom always breaded it with flour & s/p then would fry it in a skillet on low heat. It's kind of the luck of the draw on whether or not it's tender or tough. We always had this with mashed potatoes and green beans.

see pioneer's womans recipe for "marborlo man's favorite sandwich". sorry about the spelling. i've made this sandwhich several times and i love it!! it's so yummy and you'll see why when you read recipe.

Smothered Steak Recipe (Chris loves this, the kids will eat it when it is served with out the onions on their plate)

1 tsp beef bouillon granules
1 cup hot water
4 cuped steaks
lemon herb seasoning
1 onion sliced and separated
1 TBSP cornstarch- may take more
1/4 cup water

1. Combine bouillon in the hot water. Stir well & set aside. Sprinkle steaks with lemon pepper. Spray pan W/ Pam. Heat on medium add steaks. Brown on both sides. Add onion and bouillon and bring to a boil. Cover reduce to simmer until meat and onions are tender.
2. Combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup water. Stir well. Add to mead and cook on medium. Stirring constantly until thick and bubbly.

3. Serve with Rice.
