these boots are made for walkin'

yea, you guessed it. go organize your shoes. you know you want to, and you want to donate some to a sweet one that needs some tootsie protection! do it! go do it now. it only takes a few minutes and it is so liberating and you will feel like you accomplished something today. for me it is the one thing that i had planned to do that i actually did. the rest was kinda not what i planned but equally as important. if you store your shoes in boxes, take a picture of them, print it off and put it on the outside of the box. then group the boxes by color of shoe and season. choosing shoes is a much quicker process when grouped by both season and color. remember to send me pictures of your completed projects.

oh what a feelin'

now is the perfect time to start simple organizing tasks around your house that will aid you throughout the entire year. i started yesterday with my make up drawer. what a disaster! you know all of those samples that you get that you might use?!?! well i had some circa 1990, and do you know what...i pitched them. yes, i threw them away. i think that some of the animal by-products had risen to the top of those lipsticks because they had a disgusting film on the tip of the lipstick (another wonderful reason to wear organic make-up). any who...the drawer is nice and neat and i really enjoyed applying "my face" this morning. i even made a little make-up bag for my purse. oh and i organized my purse. what a glorious feeling! for some reason i now have the lyrics "oh what a feeling, when your dancin' on the ceiling" going through my head. does anyone remember that song? i am going to organize one thing a day for the next month. want to do it with me? let's organize together. let me know how you are doing with it. email me some pictures of your work and i will post them along with my finished project.

sidenote: i have determined that someone needs to talk to cabinet designers. nice deep drawers as top drawers instead of bottom ones to organize makeup pencils and lipglosses so the stacking issue would never be an issue. i can't stand stacking my pencils, mascara and eyeliner, etc. then i have to root around and mess up all my previous organization. i would love to place them in a neat little container like my lipsticks. that would be make-up drawer perfection!

Burts Bees Deal

(the set is similar to the one pictured above, but the set at Walgreens has more items)
Walgreens had a Burt's Bees Gift Set for Christmas this year that retailed for $14.95, which was an excellent deal to begin with. It is now marked down 1/2 off along with all of the other gift sets and cologne sets that they carry. The products in the set would cost well over $30 if purchased individually. I also used the Burts Bees coupon that was in the paper a couple of months ago and purchased the whole set for $6.50. The cream alone is $8.99 one aisle over in the store. I would run over to your nearest Walgreens and see if you can still catch the deal.

still vacationing but heading back tomorrow. sorry the posts have been so sparse while we have been gone. i started thinking about the new year this morning (since, well it is the new year). so without any further ado.....

1. HAPPY NEW YEAR. i plan to make this year one without living in fear even in times of uncertainty, fully relying on God for our needs.

3. making my relationships intentional. working to always listen first and talk later, if talking is even necessary. being there when i am needed for whatever, whenever.

4. have fun with my family. i was thinking last night how short life really is. 2010. wow! 2010. does that seem real?
