do you ever feel like life is passing you by...never enough time to do this or that. the this or that's that really in the big scheme of life do not matter. i am really trying to get better at not concerning myself with things that are temporal and changing my focus to the things that are eternal. by that i mean...i am trying to ask myself before i get stressed about the laundry piled 4 feet high in the laundry room or irked that the beds are not made perfectly, is this going to create a smile, make a life easier, exhibit understanding, show Christ to someone who needs to see Him in the little things of life. because really in this big world what do i want to be remembered for. the neatest made beds or a momma that played kickball, laughed at jokes, and smiled ALOT! a wife that was present and there or one that just co-existed. a daughter that grew old with her parents or one that watched from the outside as they aged. a sister who did whatever necessary to display unwavering love or one that purchased the obligatory Christmas gift once a year and removed herself the rest of the time. a friend that no matter what time, what place, what season of life, what crisis occurs is there or one that is a convenience girl and is only there for the fun times. while the entire day everyday can't be a internal look at the status of my choices, i can be more diligent about spending more time looking there. what are your thoughts on this topic? in the mean time i better at least go switch a load of laundry so i have some clean undies for the morning:)

planning

we are getting away for a couple of days so i will not be posting. i am planning to start up the sewing classes again in the fall. we will do them once a month and work on a specific project for the evening. if you think that you might be interested in attending those sessions let me know. the first project will be placemat purses, so keep your eyes open for a cute placemat that you want to use. if you want to make a placemat bag you will need 2 placemats. if you want to make a purse you will just need 1. have a great weekend and beginning of the week. for those of you who have children that are starting school next week i hope that this weekend is filled with many wonderful summer memories and smiles. also when you comment about the class let me know what weeknights are good for everyone.

the farm

today was a hard day for me. we visited the family farm for the last time as a family. my three little ones love the farm. their memories of the farm include fishing, skipping rocks in the pond or just throwing them in and watching them splash, lots of kittens, a sweet dog named sam, lots of barns, black ones, and time that is undivided.

my memories of the farm extend well beyond those of my children, this farm entered my life when i met the man that i am beyond blessed to call my husband. it is his great aunt and uncles farm. they are really more like grandparents as his grandparents went to be with the Lord at an early age. the first time i saw the farm i told my love that i wanted it someday. i wanted to run and roam these fields. i desired nothing more than to raise a family on this piece of land that is undoubtedly blessed by the maker of all things. b and i spent many a romantic evening on that pond fishing and planning our future.

so today was not as i planned, because the farm is not ours any longer. not that it was ever "ours", but it was my little place that i could go and see God's hand in so many things. the wind blowing the wheat, the laughter dancing through the eyes of children that ran and jumped and soared through acres of green goodness, the peace that my sweet love felt knowing that his family had lived on that piece of land and worked it hard for over 200 years.

it has always been my desire, even as a child and very much a city girl, to be a farm girl. so today something within me has died a little bit, because that is where i dreamed to be. i will hold and clutch onto the memories that were created there. they are some of my fondest memories with my young love and that farm created some of the most precious faces upon my children's faces at the wonder of discovery there in that place. i am trusting that this loss is part of God's perfect plan for our lives, because i know that He makes no mistakes. however, right here and now in this place i am sad and i want today back.

kroger milk deal

today i did our weekly shopping at kroger. they are running a special this week if you buy 4 boxes of kellogg's cereal you get 2 gallons of milk for free. we drink organic milk so i got 2 of the half gallons that we normally drink and took them up to the cash out lane when i was finished. i asked the cashier if she would credit me for the amount of the gallons that normally came with the deal. she gladly did so making the organic 2.99 half gallons of milk 1.50. while that does not seem like a great deal, i was very happy with the savings. it just goes to show that it never hurts to ask, and that savings on certain items are relative depending on the choices that you make in what you serve your family to eat. let me know if any of you try this, and if it works.

ps...the rice krispies and the frosted flakes are 4 for $10 plus you can use coupons on the cereal so it really ends up being a really good deal.

ebay

do you use it? i have found that i can make some great "extra" money to use as a rotation cash flow. what i mean is i am very limited on the clothes that i can purchase for our daughter. she has to wear 100% cotton all the time. gymboree is one of the few brands that i have found to consistently use 100% cotton quite frequently. i buy most of her clothes on ebay and then turn around and sell them the following year on ebay. the amazing thing is the majority of the time the clothes bring close to the price of what i paid. gymbo clothes wash and wear like champions so that helps. i have been trying to watch for clothes at yard sales because of course that is a better deal, but when i can find what i am looking for ebay is where i go. another tip, buy summer items in the fall when things go cheaper because most people are shopping for winter. i think most of the time you can guesstimate on size, especially dresses. shop for winter items in the spring. i even choose to shop this way when i buy retail. i save some serious money by doing this for myself and the children.

more blueberries

we went pickin again. our oldest favorite fruit is blueberries so naturally when the opportunity presented itself to pick again we jumped on that bandwagon. i froze the majority of these. they are great for blueberry pancakes and blueberry syrup, smoothies, or just eating the frozen berries as is. lately we have had a lot of pancakes and the syrup that i have been making is a simple syrup with fruit added. delicious and much better for you than the alternative. while i am flipping the pancakes i put 3/4 cup water and 1/2cup sugar on the stove in a saucepan. reduce the mixture. once it thickens add fresh fruit (i add quite a bit of fruit) and let the mixture lightly roll boil for about 3 minutes. stir it though, you don't want it to stick. it is delicious and adds a whole new level to pancakes or ice cream for that matter.
